The city of Águeda became worldwide famous due to its streets full of colourful umbrellas during the summer. The Umbrella Sky project was created for the Agitágueda, a music and arts festival that happens every year in July. Because of the great success of this project, the city decided to extend the time the streets were decorated. Initially it was only for the festival, during the month of July however, now the umbrellas stay until the end of September.
We leave Aveiro to discover Águeda and its surroundings. Just before we arrive in the city, we make a quick stop to admire the fantastic Pateira de Fermentelos, the biggest natural lagoon in the Iberian Peninsula with 529ha and rich in fauna, flora, aquatic species and birds and with a romantic and scenic route.
We continue our journey towards Águeda city where the visitors will be inundated with colour and joy. Once we arrive downtown, we will discover the colour decorated streets and, if you wish, you can book a guide that will take you on a guided visit through the history of these streets.
On our return to Aveiro we will stop to discover one of the most amazing views over the valley of river Cértima, in a place where you can relax having a refreshing drink while you discover breath taking views.
